Défi « Rien de neuf » : pourquoi se lancer?

L’association Zero Waste France a lancé le Défi “Rien de neuf” comme un challenge, une alternative concrète afin de proposer d’autres manières de consommer. Le concept au cœur de ce Défi : préserver les ressources de notre planète en limitant au maximum l’achat d’objets neufs pendant un an. Alors, pourquoi se lancer?

Préserver les ressources

Adopter une démarche zéro déchet, ce n’est pas seulement opter pour des matériaux réutilisables, durables, mais c’est aussi réfléchir en amont sur l’impact de la consommation des objets neufs. Il existe un “poids caché” des objets, terme par lequel on désigne la quantité de matières premières qui sont nécessaires à leur fabrication (entre l’extraction des matières premières, l’approvisionnement des matières premières et des emballages, la mise en forme des matières premières, l’assemblage et la distribution des objets…). Saviez-vous par exemple que la fabrication d’un smartphone requiert environ 183 kilos de matières premières ?*

Des milliers d’objets sont déjà en circulation, alors pourquoi ne pas les utiliser? Participer au Défi “Rien de neuf”, c’est donc opter pour un mode de consommation qui préserve les ressources naturelles. Dans la rubrique « mon espace » sur riendeneuf.org, vous pourrez lister tous les objets que vous avez réussi à ne pas acheter neufs. Il calculera la quantité des ressources que vous avez préservées, ce qui s’avère très gratifiant!

Repenser sa consommation

Bien sûr, le terme “Rien de neuf” fait peur ! Rien de neuf du tout, vraiment? Ça paraît trop difficile! En fait, l’idée derrière le Défi est plutôt de questionner sa consommation, ses besoins réels (ai-je vraiment besoin de cet objet? pourquoi?) : acheter un objet neuf ne signifie pas nécessairement que vous avez échoué. La plupart des participant‧e‧s du Défi “Rien de neuf” témoignent en fait que se libérer de la pression à consommer se révèle épanouissant, pour de multiples raisons. Ainsi, la participation au Défi “Rien de neuf” vous permettra sans doute d’apprendre pleins de choses (comment entretenir, réparer ses objets du quotidien par exemple), de découvrir de nouveaux endroits (ressourceries, friperies, repair cafés, brocantes), de rencontrer de nouvelles personnes, mais aussi de faire des économies et finalement, de passer moins de temps dans les grands magasins!

Les outils du Défi “Rien de neuf”

Mais comment se lancer concrètement? Pour vous accompagner dans votre démarche, Zero Waste France met à votre disposition plusieurs outils. Décider de réduire au maximum ses achats neufs, c’est très bien, mais encore faut-il prendre connaissance des alternatives au neuf existantes (seconde main, occasion, récup’, don, mutualisation, fabrication, etc.). Sur le site riendeneuf.org, on vous propose une liste d’ “Alternatives au neuf”. Vous pourrez également trouver, sur le site de Zero Waste France, une carte interactive des solutions zéro déchet, et ainsi les localiser près de chez vous.

À ce jour, le Défi “Rien de neuf” est une aventure qui regroupe plus de 56.000 participant‧e‧s! Bien plus qu’un simple chiffre, la participation au Défi “Rien de neuf” est aussi la preuve d’un engagement citoyen, un message politique fort afin de lutter au niveau collectif contre le gaspillage des ressources. En effet, dans le contexte de crise que nous traversons, ce Défi s’avère plus que jamais nécessaire pour lutter contre le gaspillage des ressources et soutenir une autre économie, plus circulaire et solidaire, en valorisant les alternatives au neuf et les commerces locaux, indépendants.
